Qualification

2.1 Child and Youth Care Worker Qualification

A Child and Youth Care Worker contributes to the provision of holistic therapeutic care and supports the development of children and youth in order to ensure the appropriate development of the individuals through the application of professional life space interventions.

The entry level to this qualification is NQF Level 3 with Communication.

At the end of training 190 credits will be accumulated.

The duration of this course is 1 year.

2.1.1 Work opportunities further studies:

The Child and Youth Cre workers can work in residential care facilities, schools, daycare centres, community development, substance abuse programs, and as probation or court support staff.

Horizontal Articulation:

      • Occupational Certificate: Social Auxiliary Work, Level 5.
      • National Certificate in Human Resource Management, Level 5 (ID
        66873).

Vertical Articulation:

      • University Diploma in Christian Service: Social Work, Level 6 (ID
        6209).
